The 26th Annual Cali Picnic is postponed until summer 2020

Given the extreme nature of the pandemic that is currently impacting our world, the Cali Picnic committee members have decided to adhere to the direction of the CDC as well as the city of Atlanta and postpone this year’s event.

The cancellation of in-person classes for the duration of the Spring 2020 semester at the Atlanta University Center and neighboring schools, along with the order to minimize large gatherings for an indefinite period of time, were key factors in deciding to move the original date. The 26th annual Cali Picnic is NOT canceled. It will now take place in late summer 2020.

As COVID-19 continues to impact all of our lives, we found it difficult at best to confirm new and improved enhancements, talent and other necessities that make for a one of a kind event – one our ardent supporters have become accustomed to.

All pre-purchased tickets will be honored at the make-up date. If you would instead prefer a refund, please contact Eventbrite.

All paid vendor applications will be honored at the make-up date as well. Vendors that prefer a refund should reach out directly at info@thecalipicnic.com. Please provide the name of your business and vendor designation (food, non-food, etc.)

This was not an easy decision. We want each and every one of you to know that. However, it is in our best interest to adhere to requests from the city of Atlanta that have enforced a cap on large gatherings. Moreover, it is mandatory that we do our part to protect event-goers, staff, volunteers, talent and all other Cali Picnic supporters during these unprecedented times.

New announcements will be made via www.thecalipicnic.com and will then be disseminated on our social media platforms in an effort to provide updates in real-time.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The Cali Picnic Committee

The 23rd Annual Cali Picnic: Westurn Union (Recap)

(Atlanta, GA) – Yesterday, Morris Brown College played host to the 23rd Annual Cali Picnic: Westurn Union, welcoming thousands to join a festive gathering of music, food, games and hot cars. People of all ages convened throughout the day, some arriving earlier than 10AM to set up for a 2PM kickoff.

A variety of food vendors, including Coldstone Creamery, The Culinary King, Naanstop Indian Cuisine, Mally B’z Hookahs, Tacos & Tequila and others, served quality treats and meals for a span of six hours.

As is custom for the two decade long event, select sounds that span thirty to forty years of soul, funk and hip hop, blared through the speakers on Mo B’s historic grounds at the onset of the event. Read more

The CCAF Ignites Buzz For 23rd Annual Cali Picnic

In case you hadn’t heard, the 23rd Annual Cali Picnic: Westurn Union, is less than a week away. In our spirited takeover of the ATL, we’ve teamed up with some really good people to provide some dope events that will precede the #bestdayoftheyear.

We get approached every year to do an after party and other events that don’t always work out. The truth of the matter is The Cali Picnic has grown to heights that it’s never seen.

As such, we felt obliged to work with some folks that we thought would honor the rich legacy we’ve worked to build in our 23 years of existence. All that said, if it isn’t on this page, or somewhere on this site, it isn’t official.

In other words, party at your discretion.  Read more

West Up Down South Showcase

Since final months of promotion and eventual production of “America’s Most Wanted,” we’ve been planning a series of showcases that would allow us to feature up and coming artists. Given the platform the Cali Picnic provides to independent rappers, singers and comedians, we felt it necessary to develop a unique opportunity for them to shine, even if it was not attached to a performance at the Cali Picnic.

Saturday was the beginning of that movement and while we didn’t have the turnout we expected, but it was just what it was supposed to be.

Among the participants featured were OG Outlaw Bandit Loc, Sacramento’s own Yoey Composes, and Mash Muzicc – a seasoned indie who’s made a name for himself in ATL industry circles. Read more
